Unit Wise Thrissur Unit - ST only – 1 (One) (This unit comprises the Revenue Districts of Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam & Thrissur)

Direct Recruitment (Unit wise) (Special Recruitment from among Scheduled Tribes only).

18 – 41 Only Candidates born between 02.01.1976 and 01.01.1999 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post. Note:- In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit, the upper age limit shall be relaxed upto 50 years. But in no case the maximum age limit shall exceed 50 (fifty) years.

1. Pass in S.S.L.C or its equivalent qualification. Note:- Part II Rule 10(a)ii of KS&SSR regarding qualification is applicable for this selection. 2. Physical fitness as specified below, namely; (i) Must be at least 160 cms height and must be 81.3 cms round the chest on full expiration and must have a chest expansion of 5 cms. (ii) Eye Sight Must be certified to possess the following visual standards, without glasses. Vision Right Eye Left Eye (a) Distant Vision 6/6 snellen 6/6 snellen (b) Near Vision 0.5 snellen 0.5 snellen (c) Each eye must have full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any other morbid condition of the eyes or lids of either eye will be deemed to be a disqualification. (iii) Must be free from apparent physical defects llike knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, irregular and protruding teeth, defective speech and hearing. (iv) Must qualify in any five (5) events out of Eight (8) events of the National Physical Efficiency “One Star” Standard Test, as specified below. Sl. Note:- i) The above Vacancy is now in existence. The list of selected candidates published by the Commission shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year and a maximum period of three years provided that the said list will not continue to be in force if a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year is published. Recruitment will be made for the above vacancy and also for the vacancies reported for Special Recruitment from Scheduled Tribe during the pendency of the list. In the absence of qualified candidates, re-notification will be published. ii) The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a Unit basis subject to the Special conditions laid down in G.O (MS)No.92/80/Home dated 24.09.1980. All postings and transfers of members of service shall be made by the IG of Prisons. Candidates already in Government service holding this post in any of the units are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified. iii) As the recruitment of Assistant Prison Officer in the Prisons Department is being done on unit wise, a candidate thus appointed in a particular unit is bound to serve in any of the Institutions under the jurisdiction of the unit concerned. iv) Candidates are prohibited from applying to more than one Unit in response to the notification v) The name of the post, qualification and related conditions for selection is notified as per the provisions included in G.O(P)No.89/2014/Home dated 06.05.2014 and GO(P)No.266/2010/Home dated 09.12.2010. vi) (a) Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years. (b) They shall undergo in-service training as prescribed by the Head of Department. (c) They shall pass Kerala Jail Subordinate Officers test within the period of probation unless they have already passed the test. (d) Statewise Seniority List will be maintained on the warder establishment for the purpose of promotion to other categories. Note:- Applications received from candidates other than Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates will be rejected. Individual communications regarding the rejection of their applications for the above reason will not be issued. Note:- The physical measurement of candidates will be taken at the time of physical efficiency test and those who do not possess the prescribed physical measurement will not be admitted for the physical efficiency test. If accidents or injuries happened to candidate while participating in the Physical Efficiency Test, he will not be given further chance to participate in the test. The candidates should produce at the time of Physical Efficiency Test, a Medical Certificate in original in the form prescribed hereunder certifying to their physical fitness and eye sight without glasses. The Medical Certificate should be one obtained from a Medical Officer under the Government not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon/Junior Consultant and the same shall be uploaded in the OTR profile by the candidates at the time of certificate verification. Note:- Details regarding standards of vision should be clearly stated in the Certificate as given above and vague statement such as vision Normal/Good will not be accepted. Specification for each eye should be stated separately. If the specifications are not as indicated above, the officer issuing the Certificate should certify whether the candidate has got better standards of vision or worse standards of vision as the case may be, otherwise the certificate will not be accepted. Candidates having “A”, “B” & “C” certificate of NCC will be given weightage marks at the rate of 2%, 3% & 5% respectively, vide GO(MS)No.112/2007/H/Edn dated 21.08.2007. Paragraphs two, three and twenty five (except the conditions laid down in the Rule 3 (c) of Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules are not applicable to this selection. Appointment are made on the basis of the rank secured in the ranked list of candidates prepared in pursuance of this notification subject to the conditions laid down in G.O.(P) No. 21/76/PD dated, 17.01.1976 and G.O.(P) No.25/94/GAD dated, 22.01.1994 allowing special reservations to Scheduled Tribes in accordance with the procedures made for this purpose from time to time and subject to the rules under sections 3(c), 17(a), 17(b) of Part II of Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1958. If a Written / OMR Test is conducted as part of this selection, Admission Ticket for eligible candidates will be made available in their Profile for One Time Registration and the date of downloading will be included in the Examination Calendar. Candidates can download Admission Ticket for 15 days from this date. Candidates who have downloaded the Admission Ticket 15 days prior to the Examination will alone be permitted to attend the examination.
