Direct Recruitment I. Category No. 672/2022 : Open Market II. Category No.673/2022 : Constabulary [From among the Graduate Head Constables, Police Constables and officers of corresponding rank in Police or Vigilance Department]

Category - I – [Open Market] : 20-31. Only candidates born between 02.01.1991 and 01.01.2002 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post with usual relaxation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Communities. [For other conditions regarding the age relaxation please see Part-II, Para 2 of the General Conditions of the Gazette notification] Category - II – [Constabulary] : 20-36. Only candidates born between 02.01.1986 and 01.01.2002 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post. [The principles of Rules of reservation and rotation prescribed in rules 14 to 17 of Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules will not apply for Department Quota. Candidates under this Category will be advised on the basis of merit only].

I) Educational Qualifications:- Must be a Graduate. In the case of Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates, if sufficient number of fully qualified candidates are not available, applications of those who have passed Pre-University/ Pre-Degree or equivalent Examination of recognized University shall be considered only to fill up the quota reserved for them under Category (I). Note: (a) KS&SSR Part-II Rule 10 (a) (ii) is applicable. (b) In addition to the qualifications prescribed in the Notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post, in the Special Rules and such of those qualifications which per-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient for the post. The copy of the Government Orders declaring equivalent/ higher qualifications shall be produced as and when required by the Commission. (c) In the case of difference in caste/ community claimed in the application and that entered in SSLC book, the candidate shall produce a Gazette notification in this regard, along with Non Creamy Layer Certificate/ Community Certificate issued by the competent revenue authority at the time of Certificate Verification. II) Physical Qualification:- A) Must be Physically Fit and should possess the following minimum physical standards :- (i) Height – 167 cm (Taller persons will be given preference) (ii) Chest Measurement – 81 cm with minimum expansion of 5 cm Note: The minimum Height and Chest Measurements shall be 160 cm and 76 cm respectively for Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes candidates. The minimum chest expansion of 5cm shall however be applicable for them also. B) Should be certified to possess the visual standards specified below without glasses. Left Eye / Right Eye: (i) Distant vision: 6/6 snellen (Left Eye), 6/6 snellen (Right Eye) (ii) Near vision: 0.5 snellen (Left Eye), 0.5 snellen (Right Eye) Note: (a) Each eye must have a full field of vision. (b) Colour Blindness, Squint or any morbid condition of the eyes or lids of either eye shall be a disqualification. (c) Should be free from apparent physical defects like Knock-knee, Flat Feet, Varicose veins, Bow legs, Deformed limbs, irregular and protruding teeth, defective speech and hearing etc.. (d) Candidates should produce a medical certificate in original at the time of Certificate Verification in the form prescribed hereunder certifying to their physical fitness and eyesight without glasses obtained from a Medical officer not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon. III) Physical Efficiency Test:- In addition to the qualification prescribed above every candidate will be subjected to a Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates should qualify in at least five out of the following eight items of National Physical Efficiency One Star Standards Tests with minimum standard noted against each. 1. 100 Metres Run: 14 Seconds 2. High Jump: 132.20 cm 3. Long Jump: 457.20 cm 4. Putting the Shot (7264 gms): 609.60 cm 5. Throwing the Cricket Ball: 6096 cm 6. Rope Climbing (only with hands): 365.80 cm 7. Pull ups or chinning: 8 times 8. 1500 Metres Run: 5 Minutes & 44 seconds Note: (a) The Physical Measurement of the candidates will be taken prior to the Physical Efficiency Test and those who do not possess the prescribed Physical Measurements will not be admitted for the Physical Efficiency Test. (b) If accidents or injuries happen to a candidate while participating in the Physical Efficiency Test, he will not be given further chance to participate in the test.

Note: Women and Differently Abled candidates are not eligible to apply for this post. (i) The Ranked List of candidates published by the Commission in response to this notification shall cease to be in force after one year from the date of finalization of Ranked List... (ii) The Vacancies that may be reported to the Commission during the period of the currency of the list will be apportioned among (I) Open Market and (II) Constabulary... (iii) If sufficient number of suitable candidates are not available from the Departmental candidates to fill up the quota reserved for them, the deficiency will be made good from the Open Market. Conditions of Service: Persons recruited direct for appointment to the category of Armed Police Sub Inspector shall undergo training for a period of one year in the Police Training College... Probation: Every person appointed to service after completion of training shall be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
