Candidates must have been born on or before 01.01.1999. The upper age limit is not applicable for selection by transfer.

1. Must have a Post Graduate Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the concerned subject by any University in Kerala. 2. i) B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any University in Kerala. ii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. iii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (i) and (ii) above, B.Ed Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. 3. Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by the Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the Government of Kerala.

1. Candidates who have acquired M.Ed in the concerned subject recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed qualification. 2. Non-qualifying degrees like Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship in the concerned subject will be awarded extra marks for ranking as follows: Non-qualifying M.Phil - 2 marks, Non-qualifying Ph.D - 4 marks, M.Phil & Ph.D (Non-qualifying) - 5 marks, Post Doctoral Fellowship - 2 marks. Non-qualifying qualifications mean additional qualifications over and above the essential qualifications required for the post. If Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship is considered as the basic qualification, no extra marks will be awarded. 3. Qualifications other than those prescribed in this notification, including those declared as equivalent by the Government or the Commission, will be accepted. Government orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications must be produced when required by the Commission. 4. KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 a(ii) is applicable. Exemptions: 1. Candidates who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of College Lecturer conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET requirement for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 2. Candidates who have passed the SET for the post of HSST conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET requirement for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 3. Candidates who have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are exempted from the SET requirement. 4. Candidates who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed are exempted from the requirement of passing the SET. However, the M.Phil qualification in the concerned subject must be from a recognized University in Kerala or equivalent thereto. 5. Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D thesis and those who have passed M.Phil are exempted from the requirement of passing the SET for the period during which UGC grants such exemption. 6. SC/ST and differently-abled candidates are eligible for 5% marks relaxation for Post Graduation as per G.O.(Ms).No.288/15/Gl.Edn dated 13.11.2015. Explanation: Non-Vocational Teacher means a post where teaching is required for 15 periods or more per week in each subject. Probation: Persons appointed to this post shall be on probation for a period of two years within a continuous service of three years.
