Unit wise:- (1) Thiruvananthapuram Unit – Anticipated (This Unit includes Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha Districts) (2) Thrissur Unit – Anticipated (This Unit includes Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur Districts) (3) Kannur Unit – 5 (Five) (This Unit includes Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram and Palakkad Districts)

Direct Recruitment (Unit wise)

18-36 i.e. candidates born between 02.01.1980 and 01.01.1998 (Both dates included) only are eligible to apply for the post. Other Backward Communities and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age relaxation. For concessions allowed in upper age limit, subject to the condition that the maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 years, please see para (2) of the General Conditions under Part II of this Notification

(a) Educational Qualifications: Pass in SSLC Examination or its equivalent [Rule 10(a)(ii) of Part II of the KS & SSR is applicable] (b) Physical Qualifications: (i) Must have at least 150 cm height Note: Minimum height of 150 cm is applicable to SC/ST candidates also. (ii) Eye sight:- Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified below without glasses. Vision Right Eye Left Eye Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen 6/6 Snellen Near Vision 0.5 Snellen 0.5 Snellen (c) Each eye must have a full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any morbid conditions of the eye or lids of either eye will be deemed to be a disqualification. (iii) Must be free from apparent physical defects like knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, irregular and protruding teeth, defective speech and hearing. (iv) Must qualify in any five events out of the eight events of the National Physical Efficiency One Star Standard Test as specified below. Sl. No. Events One Star Standards (i) 100 Metres Run :17 seconds (ii) High Jump :1.06 metres (iii) Long Jump :3.05 metres (iv) Putting the shot (weight of the shot 4 Kg) :4.88 metres (v) 200 metres run :36 Seconds (vi) Throwing the throw ball :14 metres (vii) Shuttle Race (25 X 4 metres) : 26 seconds (viii) Skipping (One minute) : 80 times Note: The Physical measurement of candidates will be taken at the time of physical efficiency test and those who do not possess the prescribed physical measurement will not be admitted for the physical efficiency test. If accidents or injuries happened to a candidate while participating in the Physical Efficiency Test, she will not be given further chance to participate in the test. The candidates should produce at the time of Physical Efficiency Test, a Medical Certificate in original in the form prescribed hereunder certifying to their physical fitness and eye sight without glasses. The Medical Certificate should be one obtained from a Medical Officer under the Government not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon/Junior Consultant and the same shall be uploaded in the OTR Profile by the candidate at time of Certificate Verification.

Note: Differently abled candidates and male candidates are not eligible to apply for the post. Note:- (i) Candidates are prohibited from applying to more than one Unit in response to the notification. (ii) The name of the post, qualification and related conditions for selection is notified as per the provisions included in G.O. (P) No. 89/2014/Home dated 06.05.2014 and G.O.(P) No. 266/2010/Home dated 09.12.2010. (iii) Separate Ranked List will be prepared for Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kannur Units in pursuance of this notification. The Ranked List thus prepared and published by the Commission, shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year, subject to the condition that the said list will continue to be in force till the publication of new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier. In case no candidate is advised from the ranked list till the expiry of the period of three years, the duration of the ranked list shall be extended for a further period of one year or till at least one candidate is advised from the list whichever is earlier. (iv) The selection in pursuance of the notification will be made on a Unit basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O (Ms)No.92/80/Home dated 24.09.1980. All postings and transfers of members of the service shall be made by the IG of prisons. Candidates already in Government service holding this post in anyone unit are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified. (v) As the recruitment of Female Assistant Prison Officer in the prisons Department is being done on Unit wise, a candidate thus appointed in Thiruvananthapuram/Thrissur/Kannur unit is bound to serve in any of the institutions under the jurisdiction of the Unit concerned. (vi) (a) Every person appointed to the Post shall, from the date on which she joins duty, be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years. (b) They shall undergo in-service training as prescribed by the Head of Department. (c) They shall pass Kerala Jail Subordinate officers test within the period of probation unless they have already passed the test. (d) Separate State-wide seniority list will be maintained in the case of Female Assistant Prison Officer.
