18-40. Only Candidates born between 02.01.1985 and 01.01.2007 (Both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post with usual relaxation to S.C./S.T. and Other Backward Classes. Note:- For concessions allowed in upper age limit subject to the condition that the maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 (fifty) years of age, please see Para 2 of the General Conditions under Part II of this notification.

1. A Degree in the concerned subject and B. Ed./ B.T. in the concerned subject both conferred or recognized by the Universities in Kerala. (Concerned subjects are specified in Note ii below.) 2. Must have passed the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET Category III) for this post conducted by the Government of Kerala. Note: The Degree/ Diploma awarded by U.G.C. approved Universities or Institutions established through an act passed by Parliament/ State Legislative Assembly in accordance with the conditions laid down in G.O.(M.S.) No. 526/P.D. dated 17.07.1965 are acceptable for appointment in Government Services. Exemption : i. Candidates who have qualified C-TET/ NET/ SET/ M. Phil./ Ph. D. in the respective subjects/ M. Ed. in any subject are exempted from acquiring K-TET [G.O.(P.) No. 145/16/G.Edn. Dated 30.08.2016, G.O.(P.) No. 206/16/G.Edn. Dated 08.12.2016 and G.O. (P.) No. 15/2020/G.Edn. Dated 09.10.2020]. ii. C-TET (Primary stage and Elementary stage) qualification shall not be considered as an alternative qualification for K-TET Category III [G.O.(P.) No. 6/2024/G.Edn. Dated 01.02.2024]. Note: i. M. Phil. in the concerned subject be the one awarded by any of the Universities in Kerala or recognised as equivalent by any of the Universities in Kerala. ii. The applicant should have taken History or Economics or Geography or Politics or Philosophy or Sociology as main subject for Graduation. The candidates who possess B. Ed. Degree in Social Science after obtaining a degree in Commerce or Music before 21.09.2022 are also eligible to apply for the post [G.O.(M.S.) No. 234/2022/G.Edn. dated 19.12.2022]. iii. Diploma in Rural Service awarded by the National Council for Rural Higher Education will also be treated as equivalent to Degree for the above purpose. iv. The candidates who have acquired B.A. Ed. Integrated Course (Social Studies, English) conducted by the Regional Institute of Education in Mysore are also eligible to apply for the post [G.O.(Rt.) No. 2135/2019/G.Edn. dtd 04.06.2019]. v. Post Graduates in concerned subject with B. Ed./ B.T. in the concerned subject are also eligible to apply for the post. vi. The following qualifications are also acceptable for appoinment to the post of High School Teacher (Social Science). a. B.A. Degree in Islamic History and Urdu Double Main and B. Ed. in Social Studies. OR b. B.A. Degree in Islamic History (Main), General Economics and Indian History (Subsidiaries) and B. Ed. in History. OR c. B.A. Degree in Islamic History and Arabic Main and B. Ed. in History. [a, b & c above as per G.O.(M.S.) No. 254/90/G.Edn. dated 05.12.1990.] OR d. B.A. Degree in Islamic History (Main), General Economics and Political Science (Subsidiaries) and B. Ed. in History [G.O.(M.S.) No. 21/94/G.Edn. dated 21.02.1994]. OR e. B.A. (Islamic History and Arabic Main) and B. Ed. (Social Studies). OR f. BA Islamic History (Main), Indian History and Political Science (Subsidiaries) and B Ed (History) or B Ed (Social Studies). OR g. B.A. Islamic History (Main), Political Science and General Economics (Subsidiaries) and B. Ed. (Social Studies). OR h. B.A. Islamic History (Main), Outlines of Indian Culture and Freedom Movement and Political Science (Subsidiaries) and B. Ed. (Social Studies). [e, f, g & h above as per G.O.(M.S.) No. 327/2001/G.Edn. dated 07.11.2001.] i. B.A. Islamic History (Main), Linguistics and Indian History (Subsidiaries) and B. Ed. (Social Science) [as per G.O.(M.S.) No. 97/2024/G.Edn. dated 08.08.2024]. vii. If there is Written (Descriptive/ OMR) test, the Question paper for the Written test will be in Malayalam. The candidates should answer the questions in Malayalam. In the case of OMR Answer Script, answers are to be marked as instructed. viii. The disciplines in which graduation and post graduation were obtained should be mentioned in the application. ix. Rule 10(a) ii of Part II of K.S.&S.S.R. is applicable for this post.

i. Candidates shall apply online only by One Time Registration to www.keralapsc.gov.in. Applications submitted in any other manner will be summarily rejected. ii. Separate Ranked Lists will be prepared for each districts in pursuance of this notification. The Ranked list thus prepared and published by the Commission, shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year, subject to the condition that the said list will continue to be in force till the publication of a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier. Candidates will be advised for appointment against the vacancies those are reported during the currency of the list. In case no candidate is advised from the Ranked List till the expiry of the period of three years, the duration of the Ranked List shall be extended for a further period of one year or till at least one candidate is advised from the list, whichever is earlier. iii. Candidates should submit the application for this post to any one of the districts only. Applications should not be submitted to more than one district in response to this notification. If applications are sent in violation to the above direction and if the candidate is selected, his/ her name will be removed from the Ranked List and disciplinary action will be taken against him/ her. iv. The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a revenue district basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O.(M.S.) No. 154/71/P.D. dated 27.05.1971. A candidate advised for appointment in one revenue district from the Ranked List prepared is not eligible for transfer to another district unless he or she completes 5 years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed after five years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O.(M.S.)No. 36/91/P.&A.R.D. dated 02.12.1991. Candidates already in Government service holding this post in any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post, but they can apply to higher posts when notified. v. 4% of the total vacancies reported for the above post shall be reserved for eligible Differently Abled candidates with disabilities as specified vide G.O.(P.)No. 5/2023/S.J.D. dated 01.10.2023. SPECIAL CONCESSIONS REGARDING APPOINTMENT AND AGE LIMIT: i. Preference will be given as laid down in G.O.(M.S.)No. 50/70/P.D. dated 12.02.1970 and G.O.(M.S.) No. 9/78/G.Edn. dated 21.01.1978 to the wives of Jawans in the matter of recruitment as Teachers, if they possess the prescribed qualifications. ii. First Class Scouts and Guides will be given preference in the matter of appointment as Teachers [G.O.(M.S.)No. 122/75/G.Edn. dated 27.05.1975 and G.O.(M.S.)No. 50/70/P.D. dated 12/02/1970]. iii. Laboratory Attenders in the Departmental High Schools in the State who have rendered at least 5 years satisfactory service and who possess the prescribed qualification will be exempted from age limit. iv. Teachers of the Government Primary and Nursery Schools who are graduates and are otherwise qualified will be exempted from upper age limit [G.O.(M.S.)No. 185/70/Edn. dated 18.4.1970 and G.O.(M.S.)No. 466/70/Edn. dated 11.11.1970]. Mode of Sending Application: Candidates must register as per “ ONE TIME REGISTRATION” with the Official Website of Kerala Public Service Commission 'www.keralapsc.gov.in' before applying for the post. Candidates who have AADHAAR card should add AADHAAR card as ID Proof in their profile. Special Instructions to Candidates: In the case of difference in Caste/ Community claimed in the application and that entered in SSLC Book, the candidate shall produce a gazette notification in this regard, along with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate/ Community Certificate at the time of Certificate Verification.
