Direct Recruitment (Special Recruitment for Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Tribes only).

20-36 Only Candidates born between 02.01.1989 and 01.01.2005 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post. Note:- The relaxation of age limit envisaged in the sub rule (c) rule 10 of the General Rules in Part II of the KS & SSR, 1958 shall not be applicable to the post.

a. Educational Qualification: Degree in any discipline from a UGC recognized University or National Institute established by the Government of India or Institution established by the Government of Kerala or its equivalent qualification. Note:- 1 Rule 10(a)(ii) of part II of KS&SSR is applicable. 2 In addition to the qualifications prescribed in the notification, the qualifications recognized by Executive Orders or Standing Orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for the post, in the Special Rules or found acceptable by the Commission in cases where acceptance of equivalent qualifications is provided for in the rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient for the post. The copy of the Government orders recognizing equivalent / higher qualifications shall be produced as and when required by the Commission. b. Physical Qualification: Must be physically fit. Candidates should possess the following minimum physical standards. (a) (i) For male candidates Height : Must be not less than 160 cm. Chest : 81 cm with a minimum expansion of 5 cm (ii) For female candidates Height : Must be not less than 155 cm. (b) Must be certified by a Medical Officer of the Rank of District Medical Officer of the Health Services Department as to his physique and fitness and capacity for outdoor works and as to the visual standards specified below without glasses. (i) Vision Right Eye Left Eye 1) Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen 6/6 Snellen 2) Near Vision 0.5 Snellen 0.5 Snellen (ii) Each eye must have a full field of vision. (iii) Colour blindness, Squint or any morbid condition of eyes or lids of either eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification. (c) Candidates must be free from apparent physical defects like knock-knee, flat feet, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, defective speech and hearing etc. (d) Candidates should produce a Medical Certificate in original at the time of certificate verification in the form prescribed here under certifying to their physical fitness and eye sight without glasses obtained from a Medical Officer not below the rank of Civil Surgeon.

Note 1:- Differently Abled candidates are not eligible to apply for the post. Note 2:- Applications received from candidates other than Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe candidates will be rejected. Individual communications regarding the rejection of their applications for the above reason will not be issued. Note:- The Ranked list of selected candidates published by the Commission shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year. Advice for appointment will be made from the Ranked list published in pursuance of this notification for the above vacancies and also for more vacancies for the post reported further for Special Recruitment for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe during the pendency of the Rank list. Vacancies of the above post reported exclusively for Scheduled Tribes will also be advised from this list, if no separate ranked list is available or a separate selection is under way exclusively for Scheduled Tribe for filling up of such vacancies. Only in the absence of Scheduled Tribes candidates in the said Ranked list a fresh notification exclusively for 'Scheduled Tribes' will be issued for such vacancies. Physical Efficiency Test: In addition to the qualification prescribed above, every candidate will be subjected to a Physical Efficiency Test and must qualify in atleast five out of the following eight events for One Star Standard Tests which is the minimum requirements for the recruitment. The Physical Measurement of the candidates will be taken at the time of Physical Efficiency Test and those who do not possess the prescribed Physical Measurements will not be admitted for the Physical Efficiency Test. Training: The direct recruits to the category of Deputy Superintendent of Police shall be initially appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (Trainee) and admitted for pre-service training. Only on successful completion of basic training of 1 year and practical training of 1 year or as decided by the Government, they will be appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police. Bond: Those who get selected for appointment as Deputy Superintendent of Police by direct recruitment, shall execute a bond to the effect that they will serve Kerala Police for a continuous period of 5 years after completion of training, failing which they will have to remit an amount of Rs.1,00,000/-. Probation: Every person appointed under these rule shall from the date on which the person joins duty after training, be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years. Appointing Authority: The appointing authority shall be the Government.
