Age Limit
20-35. Candidates born between 02.01.1991 and 01.01.2006 (both dates included) only eligible to apply for this post. Other Backward Communities and SC/ST candidates are eligible for usual age relaxation. In the case of Clerks of Fire & Rescue Department the upper age limit for appointment as Station Officer by direct recruitment shall be 43 years. Other conditions regarding age relaxations are not applicable to this post.
Qualifications
1) a) Essential: Graduation in Science from a recognized University preferably in Chemistry. Note : KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 (a) ii is applicable. b) In addition to the qualifications prescribed in the Notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for the post, in the special rules or found acceptable by the Commission in cases where acceptance of equivalent qualifications is provided for in the rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient for the post. The copy of the Government Orders declaring equivalent/ higher qualifications shall be produced as and when required by the Commission. c) Preferential:- A good record in Sports and Games. Note i: Only International, National, Interzonal, Inter-state or State sporting events organised or re-organised by any of the organizations listed in Appendix VII of the Kerala Service Rules shall be accepted for this purpose. Note ii: Preferential qualification mentioned above shall come within the meaning of G.O (Ms) 50/70/PD dated 12.2.1970. 2) Physical Qualifications: The Candidates must possess the following minimum physical standards as prescribed below: For General Candidates: Height (without Footwear) 165 cms, Weight 50 kgs, Chest 81 cms, Chest Expansion 5 cms. For SC/ST Candidates: Height (without Footwear) 160 cms, Weight 48 kgs, Chest 76 cms, Chest Expansion 5 cms. 3) Visual Standards: Must possess the Visual Standards specified below without glasses. Right Eye: Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen, Near Vision 0.5 Snellen, Field of Vision Full. Left Eye: Distant Vision 6/6 Snellen, Near Vision 0.5 Snellen, Field of Vision Full. Note 1: (a) Each eye must have full field of vision. (b) Colour Blindness, Squint or any morbid conditions of the eyes or lids of either eye shall be a disqualification for appointment. Note 2: Must be certified to possess the visual standards specified above without glasses. Candidates should produce a Medical Certificate issued by a Medical Officer not below the rank of a Civil Surgeon as to the candidates physique, fitness and capacity for rough outdoor work and also of the visual standards when the commission intimates. 4) Physical Efficiency Test – A Physical Efficiency test will be conducted by the commission to assess the physical efficiency of the candidates. Candidates must qualify in at least 5 out of 8 items in the physical efficiency test showing the minimum standards of efficiency as noted below: 1. 100 Meters race: 14 Seconds 2. High Jump: 132.20 cms 3. Long Jump: 457.20 cms 4. Putting the Shot (7264 gms): 609.60 cms 5. Throwing the cricket ball: 6096 cms 6. Rope Climbing (using hands only): 365.80 cms 7. Pull Up or Chinning: 8 times 8. 1500 metres race: 5 minutes and 44 seconds
Notes
Note 1: The above vacancy is now in existence. The Ranked List of candidates published by the Commission in response to this notification shall cease to be in force after one year from the date of finalization of Ranked List. Note 2: NCC Cadets having 'A', 'B' & 'C' Certificates will be given weightage marks at the rate of 2%, 3% and 5% respectively as per GO(Ms)No.112/2007/H.Edn, dated 21.08.2007. Note 3: Extra marks will be awarded to meritorious sports persons as per para 6 of the General Conditions. Note 4: Students Police Cadet (SPC) certificate holders will be given weightage marks as per GO(Ms)No.06/2025/P&ARD dated 01.03.2025. Note: Differently Abled and female candidates are not eligible to apply for this post. Bond: A person appointed by direct recruitment to the post of Station Officer shall execute a bond as given in Annexure IV, binding himself to serve in the department for a period of 7 years specified in column (2) vide G.O (P) No 99/88/Home dated 17.8.1988. Probation: Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years. He shall within the prescribed period of probation, pass the following test: (i) The department test in the Kerala Fire Force Standing Orders and Practice, (ii) St.John's Ambulance Examination in First Aid, (iii) Account Test (Lower).
