(23-40). Candidates should be born between 02.01.1982 and 01.01.1999 (both dates included). Usual age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST and other backward communities. (See Part II of the General Conditions for age relaxation rules).

1) Post Graduate Degree in Economics with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. Note: SC/ST and differently abled candidates are eligible for 5% marks relaxation in Post Graduate Degree as per G.O.(Ms).No.288/15/Gl.Edn. dated 13.11.2015. 2) i) B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. ii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. iii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (i) and (ii) above, persons with B.Ed Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. iv) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree, candidates who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) with not less than 50% marks in the Post Graduate Degree shall be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who have acquired Ph.D./M.Phil. or qualified Junior Research Fellowship/National Eligibility Test. Teachers appointed under this provision must acquire B.Ed Degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of joining service. v) Candidates who have acquired M.Ed Degree in the concerned subject through a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed qualification. 3) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by the Government of Kerala or by any agency authorized by the Government of Kerala.

Note 1: Additional marks will be given for higher qualifications like Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship in the concerned subject. (Non-qualifying M.Phil - 2 marks, Non-qualifying Ph.D - 4 marks, M.Phil & Ph.D - 5 marks, Post Doctoral Fellowship - 2 marks). Non-qualifying qualifications mean qualifications higher than the minimum required. If Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship is considered as the basic qualification, no additional marks will be awarded. Note 2: Higher qualifications than those prescribed in this notification, including those recognized by the Government as equivalent to the prescribed qualification, will be accepted. Government orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications must be produced when required by the Commission. Note 3: KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 a(ii) is applicable. Exemptions: 1) Candidates who have passed the State Level Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of College Lecturer conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET requirement for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 2) Candidates who have passed the SET for the post of HSST conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET requirement for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 3) Candidates who have passed National Eligibility Test (NET) or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are exempted from the SET requirement. 4) Candidates with Ph.D./M.Phil./M.Ed. are exempted from the SET requirement, provided the M.Phil. is in the concerned subject from a recognized University in Kerala or equivalent. 5) Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis or passed M.Phil. are exempted from the SET requirement for the period as exempted by UGC. Explanation: Non-Vocational Teacher (Junior) means a post with teaching load of less than 15 periods per week. Probation: Persons appointed to this post will be on probation for a period of two years within a continuous service of three years.
