23-40. Only candidates born between 02.01.1982 and 01.01.1999 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post with usual relaxation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Communities. (For conditions regarding the age relaxation please see Part II, Para 2 of the General Conditions)

1) Master's Degree in History with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto. Note: SC/ST and Differently Abled candidates are eligible for 5% marks relaxation on Post Graduation as per G.O.(Ms)No.288/15/Gl.Edn dated 13.11.2015. 2) i) B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the concerned subject by a University in Kerala. ii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned Faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. iii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree specified in items (i) and (ii) above, B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. iv) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree, candidates who have passed State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher (Junior) conducted by Government of Kerala/State Eligibility Test (SET) conducted by formal Universities in Kerala/B.Ed. Degree with not less than 50% marks are preferred. Candidates who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil/Junior Research Fellowship/National Eligibility Test will be given preference. Teachers appointed under the above provision shall acquire B.Ed. Degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of joining service. v) M.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject recognized by a University in Kerala acquired through regular study is exempted from B.Ed. Qualification. 3) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by any Agency authorized by the State Government. Note: 1. Weightage marks will be given to the candidates who possess Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship for Non-Qualifying Degree in the concerned subject in addition to the basic qualification as detailed below: Non-Qualifying M.Phil - 2 Marks Non-Qualifying Ph.D - 4 Marks M.Phil & Ph.D (Non-Qualifying) - 5 Marks Post Doctoral Fellowship - 2 Marks Non-Qualifying degrees means additional degrees obtained over and above the basic qualifications stipulated for the post. Weightage marks will not be considered if Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship is taken as basic qualification. 2. In addition to the qualifications prescribed in this notification, the qualifications recognized by executive orders or standing orders of Government as equivalent to a qualification specified for a post, in the Special Rules and such of those qualifications which pre-suppose the acquisition of the lower qualification prescribed for the post, shall also be sufficient and provisional acceptance of equivalent/higher qualifications shall be made subject to the terms to be specified by the Commission as and when called for. 3. KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 a(ii) is applicable.

Exemptions: 1) Candidates who have passed the State Level Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of College Lecturers conducted by Government of Kerala are exempted from passing the State Eligibility Test for Non-Vocational Teacher. 2) Those who have passed the State Eligibility Test for the post of Higher Secondary School Teachers conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from passing the State Eligibility Test for Non-Vocational Teacher. 3) Those who have passed National Eligibility Test/Junior Research Fellowship are exempted from passing the State Eligibility Test. 4) Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed holders are exempted from passing the SET examination. Provided that M.Phil holders should be from the Universities in Kerala or recognized as equivalent by Universities in Kerala. 5) The relaxation from passing SET test from Ph.D holders and M.Phil holders will be given subject to the condition that the UGC guidelines issued in respect of exemption from SET will be strictly followed. Explanation: Non-Vocational Teacher (Junior) means teaching work for 15 periods per week in each subject. Probation: Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he/she joins duty be on probation for a period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
