Candidates must have been born on or before 01.01.1999. The upper age limit is not applicable for selection by transfer.

1. Post Graduate Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any University in Kerala. 2. i) B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any University in Kerala. ii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. iii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (i) and (ii) above, any B.Ed Degree acquired after a regular course of study in any subject or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. 3. Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non Vocational Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by any agency authorized by the Government of Kerala in the concerned subject.

1. Candidates who have acquired M.Ed in the concerned subject recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed qualification. 2. Weightage marks will be given for Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship in the concerned subject. Non-qualifying M.Phil - 2 marks, Non-qualifying Ph.D - 4 marks, M.Phil & Ph.D (Non-qualifying) - 5 marks, Post Doctoral Fellowship - 2 marks. Non-qualifying means additional qualifications over and above the basic qualification prescribed for the post. 3. Qualifications other than those prescribed in this notification, but equivalent to the prescribed qualification, will be accepted. Government orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications must be produced when required by the Commission. 4. KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 a(ii) is applicable. Exemptions: 1. Candidates who have passed the State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) for the post of College Lecturer conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET. 2. Candidates who have passed the SET for the post of HSST conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET. 3. Candidates who have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are exempted from the SET. 4. Candidates who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed are exempted from the SET. However, the M.Phil degree must be from a University in Kerala or recognized as equivalent by a University in Kerala. 5. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D thesis and passed M.Phil are exempted from the SET for the period UGC exempts them. 6. SC/ST and differently-abled candidates are eligible for 5% marks relaxation for Post Graduate Degree as per G.O.(Ms).No.288/15/Gl.Edn dated 13.11.2015. Explanation: Non Vocational Teacher means a post where teaching is done for 15 periods or more per week in each subject. Probation: Persons appointed to this post shall be on probation for a period of two years within a continuous service of three years.
