Candidates must have been born on or before 01.01.1999. The upper age limit is not applicable for selection by transfer. Note: The reservation rules from Rule 14 to 17 of KS&SSR 1958, Part-II are not applicable for this selection.

1. Masters Degree in English with not less than 50% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any University in Kerala. 2. i) B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any University in Kerala. ii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. iii) In the absence of persons with B.Ed Degree as specified in items (i) and (ii) above, persons with B.Ed Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. 3. Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by Government of Kerala or by the Agency authorized by the State Government.

Note 1: Language Teachers training course passed candidates are exempted from B.Ed qualification. Note 2: Candidates who have acquired M.Ed degree in the concerned subject recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed qualification. Note 3: Additional marks will be given for Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship in the concerned subjects as follows: Non-Qualifying M.Phil - 2 marks, Non-Qualifying Ph.D - 4 marks, M.Phil & Ph.D (Non-Qualifying) - 5 marks, Post Doctoral Fellowship - 2 marks. Non-qualifying qualifications mean additional qualifications acquired over and above the essential qualifications. If Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship is considered as the basic qualification, no additional marks will be awarded. Note 4: Qualifications other than those prescribed in this notification, including those declared as equivalent by Government orders or Standing orders, or those decided by the Commission as equivalent to special rules, will be accepted. Government orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications must be produced when required by the Commission. Note 5: KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 a(ii) is applicable. Exemptions: 1. Candidates who have passed the State Level Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of College Lecturer conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET requirement for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 2. Candidates who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of HSST conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET requirement for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 3. Candidates who have passed National Eligibility Test (NET) or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are exempted from the SET requirement. 4. Candidates who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed are exempted from the SET requirement. However, the M.Phil degree in the concerned subject must be from a University in Kerala or recognized as equivalent by a University in Kerala. 5. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D thesis or passed M.Phil are exempted from the SET requirement for the period UGC grants such exemption. 6. SC/ST and differently-abled candidates are eligible for 5% marks relaxation for Post Graduation as per G.O.(Ms).No.288/15/Gl.Edn dated 13.11.2015. Explanation: Non-Vocational Teacher means a post where teaching is required for 15 periods or more per week in each subject. Probation: Persons appointed to this post shall be on probation for a period of two years within a continuous service of three years.
