Age Limit
The upper age limit for applicants is 50 years as of 01.01.2023. (Other general rules regarding age relaxation are not applicable to this selection.)
Qualifications
A: (1) Diploma in Agriculture from Kerala Agricultural University or equivalent qualification. OR (2) SSLC with Agriculture as an optional subject or equivalent qualification. OR (3) SSLC or equivalent qualification and recognized training in Agriculture. OR (4) SSLC and KGTE in Agriculture. B: Good physical fitness. The following certificates are recognized as recognized training in Agriculture: (1) Successfully completed a course in Agriculture of not less than two years from a Rural Institute recognized by the Central Government, such as the Gandhigram Rural Institute in Madurai. (2) Certificate in Agriculture issued by the National Council of Rural Higher Education of the Government of India. (3) KGTE or MGTE certificate in Agriculture. (4) Training in Agriculture of not less than one year from an Agricultural School or Agricultural Basic School.
Notes
Note: (1) Those who have completed the two-year certificate course in Agriculture conducted by the Rural Institute in Thavanur will be given preference over those who have passed KGTE or MGTE. However, this preference is subject to the order G.O(MS) No. 50/70 PD dated 12.02.1970. (2) Those with a Diploma in Agriculture from Kerala Agricultural University must pass the written/OMR examination conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission. They are exempted from the Endurance Test as per GO(Ms)312/75/Agri dated 16.10.1975. (3) As per GO(Ms)77/2020/Agri dated 30.09.2020, those with MGTE (Agriculture) qualification and employees of the department who have completed 50 years of age are exempted from the Endurance Test for assessing physical fitness. (4) All other candidates not exempted from the Endurance Test must pass the Endurance Test conducted by the PSC. Endurance Test: i. 1600 meters run - Maximum time 10 minutes. ii. 0.4 acre land tilling - Maximum time 1 hour. (5) Pre-service Training: Candidates selected for appointment by transfer, except those with recognized training in Agriculture, must undergo a six-month training course at the training centers in Ollukkara or Taliparamba. Theory and intensive practical training will be provided. After training, candidates must pass tests (Theory, Practical, Oral) conducted by the Deputy Director of Agriculture in the respective districts. Candidates who fail these tests in the first attempt will be given two more chances during their probation period. If they fail again, their probation will be terminated and they will be removed from service. The test will be conducted twice a year during the probation period. Candidates who successfully complete the training will be appointed as Agricultural Assistant Grade II in the scale of pay ₹27,900-63,700/-. (6) Candidates applying for appointment by transfer, except those undergoing training, must execute a bond in the prescribed form to serve under the Government for two years, failing which they must refund the entire amount spent on their training, including ₹300 (PR). The bond format is available from Agriculture Department offices. (7) Regarding candidates selected for the post of Agricultural Assistant, even if they are not subject to pre-service training, their rank and seniority will be based on the order of their names in the list recommended by the Public Service Commission for appointment. However, for those who cannot successfully complete this training in the first attempt, their rank and seniority will be re-fixed based on the date they pass and the marks obtained at that time. Candidates appointed as Agricultural Assistants will be on probation for two years within a continuous service of three years. (C) Appointment from employees with lower pay scales to the post of L.D. Clerk/L.D. Typist will be based on the qualification determination test conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission. Candidates applying for appointment as Agricultural Assistant Grade II by transfer must obtain a service certificate from their superior authority and keep it, and produce it when required by the Commission.
