Direct Recruitment (For Scheduled Caste candidates of Kerala State only).

23-45. Candidates born between 02.01.1978 and 01.01.2000 (both dates included) are eligible to apply (including relaxation as per General Conditions).

1. Master's Degree in Mathematics with not less than 45% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or an equivalent qualification. 2. i. B.Ed degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. ii. In the absence of persons with B.Ed degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed degree acquired in the concerned subject after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala as provided in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. iii. In the absence of persons with B.Ed degree as specified in items (i) and (ii) above, persons with B.Ed degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. iv. In the absence of B.Ed degree holders, candidates with 45% marks in Master's Degree and pass in State Eligibility Test (SET) will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who have acquired Ph.D Degree or M.Phil Degree or qualified Junior Research Fellowship/National Eligibility Test (NET). The teachers appointed under this provision will have to acquire B.Ed degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of joining service. v. Candidates who have acquired M.Ed degree in the concerned subject recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala after a regular course of study are exempted from the B.Ed qualification. 3. Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by the Government of Kerala or by the agency authorized by the Government of Kerala.

Note: (1) Additional marks will be given to candidates who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship in the concerned subject as basic qualification. Marks will be awarded as follows: Non-qualifying M.Phil - 2 marks, Non-qualifying Ph.D - 4 marks, M.Phil & Ph.D (Non-qualifying) - 5 marks, Post Doctoral Fellowship - 2 marks. Non-qualifying qualification means additional qualifications acquired over and above the basic qualification. No additional marks will be awarded if Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship is considered as basic qualification. (2) Equivalent qualifications/higher qualifications will be accepted. Government orders regarding equivalent/higher qualifications must be produced when required by the Commission. (3) KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 a(ii) is applicable. Exemptions: 1. Candidates who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of College Lecturer conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 2. Candidates who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of H.S.S.T conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the SET for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher. 3. Candidates who have passed National Eligibility Test (NET) or Junior Research Fellowship are exempted from the SET. 4. Candidates who have acquired Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed are exempted from the requirement of passing the SET, provided the M.Phil degree in the concerned subject is from a recognized University in Kerala or equivalent thereto. 5. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D thesis and passed M.Phil are exempted from the requirement of passing the SET for the period during which UGC exempts them. Clarification: Non-Vocational Teacher (Junior) means a post where teaching is less than 15 periods per week in each subject. Probation: Persons appointed to this post will be on probation for a period of two years within a continuous service of three years from the date of joining.
