19 – 47. Only candidates born between 02.01.1967 and 01.01.1995 (both dates included) are only eligible to apply for the post including the relaxation as per para 2 (i) of General Condition. Note:- For conditions regarding other age relaxation please see para 2 of the General Conditions, (except para 2 (i) ) subject to the condition that Maximum age limit shall in no case exceed 50 years.

1. Must possess a certificate of competency as Engine Driver granted under the minor ports Harbour Craft Rules. OR Driving License under the Travancore public canals and public ferries Act. OR Such other certificate of competency as Engine Drivers recognised by the Government. 2. Must have Two Years experience in handling Marine Diesel Engine and 3. Must be able to read and write English. Note:- (1) The candidates must have the following visual standards Right Eye Left Eye Distant Vision v. 6/6 V. 6/6 Near Vision Reads 0.6 Reads 0.6 Squint or any morbid condition of the eyes or eyelids (eg. Trachoma) shall be deemed to be a disqualification. (2) Candidates shall produce Medical Certificate from an Ophthalmologist (Govt Service) as and when called for.

(i) Conventional type application for the above post will be summarily rejected. Candidates can apply through online application available at the Kerala Public Service Commission website viz. www.keralapsc.gov.in. (ii) Applications submitted by candidates belonging to the communities other than those notified will be summarily rejected. No rejection memo will be issued to these candidates. (iii) Separate Ranked List will be prepared for above District in pursuance of this notification. Ranked List thus prepared and published by the Commission shall remain in force until candidates are advised and appointed against the vacancies earmarked for the above community, but remain unfilled due to paucity of candidates during the currency of the Ranked List published for the post in the following dates in following district. Applications shall not be submitted to any other district in response to this notification. (v) The selection in pursuance of this notification will be made on a Revenue District basis, subject to the special conditions laid down in G.O. (MS) No. 154/71/PD dated 27.05.1971. A candidate advised for appointment in one Revenue District from the Ranked List prepared is not eligible for transfer to another district unless he/she completes five years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former district. Even if transfer is allowed after five years, it will be subject to the rules in G O (MS) No. 4/61/PD, dated 2.1.1961. Candidates already in Government service holding the same post in any one district are prohibited from applying again for this post. But they can apply to higher posts when notified. Probation. Every person appointed to the category from the date on which he joins duty, be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of 3 years.
