Unitwise i) Kannur Unit : SC/ST - 2 (Two) ST only - 3 (Three) (This unit comprises the Revenue districts of Palakkad, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kannur & Kasaragod). ii) Thrissur Unit : SC/ST - 2 (Two) ST only - 2 (Two) (This unit comprises the Revenue districts of Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur). iii) Thiruvananthapuram Unit : SC/ST - 2 (Two) ST only - 2 (Two) (This unit comprises the Revenue districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha).

Direct Recruitment (Special Recruitment from among Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes candidates).

18-41 Only candidates born between 02.01.1972 and 01.01.1995 (both dates included) are eligible to apply for this post.

1) A pass in S.S.L.C. or its equivalent qualification. 2) Physical fitness as specified below, namely : Must be at least 160 cms. height and must be 81.3 cms. round the chest on full expiration and must have a chest expansion of 5 cms. 3) Eye sight : Must be certified to possess the following visual standards, without glasses. (Medical certificate from a Medical Officer not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon should be produced as and when called for). Right Eye Left Eye a) Distant vision : 6/6 snellen 6/6 snellen b) Near vision : 0.5 snellen 0.5 snellen c) Each eye must have full field of vision. Colour blindness, squint or any other morbid condition of the eyes or lids of either eye will be deemed to be a disqualification. 4) Physical Efficiency Test : In addition to the above qualifications, a candidate should qualify in at least five out of the following eight items. i) 100 meters run : 14 seconds ii) High jump : 132.20 cms. Iii) Long jump : 457.20 cms iv) Putting the shot (7264 gm) : 609.60 cms. v) Throwing Cricket Ball : 6096 cms. vi) Rope climbing : 365.80 cms. vii) Pull up or chinning : 8 times viii) 1500 meters run : 5 minutes 44 Sec. 5) Must be free from apparent physical defects like knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins, bow legs, deformed limbs, irregular and protruding teeth, defective speech & hearing.

Note:- i) The above vacancies are now in existence. Separate Ranked lists will be prepared for Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kannur units. The list of selected candidates published by the Commission shall remain in force for a minimum period of one year and a maximum period of three years provided that the said list will not continue to be in force if a new list after the expiry of the minimum period of one year is published. Recruitment will be made for the above vacancies and also against the vacancies if any reported for SC/ST during the pendency of the list. Vacancies reported for Special Recruitment for ST only will also be made from the said Ranked list. ii) The Selection in Pursuance of this notification will be made on a Unit basis subject to the special conditions laid down in Go (M.S) No.92/80/Home dated 24.09.1980. A candidate advised for appointment in one unit from the Ranked list prepared is not eligible for transfer to another unit unless he completes five (5) years continuous service from the date of commencement of service in the former unit. Even if transfer is allowed after five (5) years, it will be subject to the rules in G.O(MS) No.4/61/PD dated 2.1.1961. But transfer within the same unit will be allowed within 5 years. Candidates already in Government service holding this post, in any one unit are prohibited from applying again for this post. iii) The recruitment of Male Warder in the Jail Department being done Unitwise, a candidate who is appointed in a particular unit is bound to serve in any of the institutions in any districts under the jurisdiction of that Unit. iv) Candidates should note the name of the unit applied for in the relevant column of the Online application. Note:- Applications received from candidates other than the SC/ST candidates will be rejected. Individual communications regarding the rejection of their applications for the above reason will not be issued. Note:- In the absence of qualified candidates within the age limit, the upper age limit shall be relaxed upto 50 years. But in no case the maximum age limit shall exceed 50 (fifty) years. Note:- Physically Handicapped persons and women are not eligible to apply for the post.
