20-45. Candidates born between 02.01.1975 and 01.01.2000 (both dates included) are eligible to apply. (No other age relaxation will be allowed) Note:- In the absence of qualified candidates within the given age limit, the upper age limit shall be relaxed up to 50 years. But in any case, the maximum age shall not exceed 50 years.

Group I - Category Number 1 & 2 (Botany, Physics) I) Master's Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto. II) (1) B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject acquired through regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. (3) In the absence of persons detailed in items (1) and (2) above, B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired through regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. OR Passed M.Sc. Ed. in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT). III) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Higher Secondary School Teachers conducted by the Government of Kerala or by any Agency authorized by the Government of Kerala. Note: M.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject recognized by any University in Kerala is exempted from B.Ed. qualification. Group II - Category Number 3 & 4 (Economics, History) I) Master's Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. II) (1) B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject acquired through regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. (3) In the absence of persons detailed in items (1) and (2) above, B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired through regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. Group III - Category Number 5, 6, 7 (Arabic, English, Hindi) I) Master's Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. II) (1) B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject acquired through regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University in Kerala. (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. (3) In the absence of persons detailed in items (1) and (2) above, B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired through regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. III) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Higher Secondary School Teachers conducted by the Government of Kerala or by any Agency authorized by the Government of Kerala. Note: M.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject recognized by any University in Kerala is exempted from B.Ed. qualification. Exemptions applicable to all posts (Cat. No. 1 - 7): 1) Holders of Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed. degree/Junior Research Fellowship/National Eligibility Test (NET) are exempted from acquiring B.Ed. qualification subject to the condition that those appointed under this provision shall acquire B.Ed. degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of joining service. 2) Holders of Language Teacher Training Course (LTTC) are exempted from B.Ed. qualification. 3) Holders of M.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. qualification. 4) Those who have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) specified for appointment to College Lecturers in Kerala are exempted from SET. 5) Those who have passed National Eligibility Test/Junior Research Fellowship are exempted from SET. 6) Holders of Ph.D/M.Ed/M.Phil degrees are exempted from SET. 7) Those who have completed 10 years of approved teaching experience at the High School level in the General Education Department are exempted from passing SET.

Higher Secondary School Teacher (Junior) means Part Time Higher Secondary School Teacher. KS&SSR part II Rule 10(a)(ii) is applicable.
