20-45, Candidates must be born between 02.01.1977 and 01.01.2002 (both dates included). Note: In the absence of qualified candidates within the specified age limit, age relaxation up to 50 years will be allowed. However, under no circumstances shall it exceed 50 years.

I) (1) Master's Degree in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in the respective subject by any University in Kerala. II) (1) B.Ed Degree in the concerned subject acquired through a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any University in Kerala. (2) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the Universities in Kerala. (3) In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree as stipulated in items 1 and 2 above, persons with B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired through a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala. OR Must have passed M.Sc.Ed. in the concerned subject with not less than 45% marks from any Regional Institute of Education sponsored by the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT). (III) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of Higher Secondary School Teacher conducted by the Government of Kerala or by any agency authorized by the Government of Kerala.

Note 1: Persons who have acquired M.Ed. in the concerned subject recognized by any University in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. qualification. Note 2 (a): Non-qualifying degrees like Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship in the concerned subject will be awarded additional marks for ranking. Note 2 (b): Non-qualifying qualifications mean additional qualifications acquired over and above the required qualifications. If Ph.D/M.Phil/Post Doctoral Fellowship are considered as basic qualifications, no additional marks will be awarded. Special Concessions: (1) Candidates who have passed the State Level Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of College Lecturer conducted by the Government of Kerala are exempted from the requirement of passing the State Eligibility Test (SET) for Higher Secondary School Teacher. (2) Candidates who have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) are exempted from the requirement of passing the State Eligibility Test (SET). (3) Candidates who have acquired Ph.D./M.Ed. from any recognized University in Kerala in the concerned subject are exempted from the requirement of passing the State Eligibility Test (SET). (4) Teachers who have completed ten years of approved teaching experience at the High School level in the General Education Department are exempted from the requirement of passing the State Eligibility Test (SET). Probation: Candidates appointed shall be on probation for a period of 2 years within a continuous period of 3 years.
