Direct Recruitment from among Second Grade Overseers/Draftsman, Third Grade Overseers / Tracers, Clerks, Typist, Typist – Clerk and Confidential Assistants of Public Works Department Only (i) Appointment to Departmental Quota will be made by Direct Recruitment from Second Grade Overseers/Draftsman, Third Grade Overseers / Tracers, Clerks, Typist, Typist – Clerk and Confidential Assistants who have rendered not less than 2 years service in Public Works Department. (ii) In the absence of suitable candidates, the vacancies set apart for By Transfer recruitment shall be filled up by the candidates from the Ranked List prepared for Direct Recruitment. (iii) Candidates working in the above post on provisional basis are not eligible to apply for the post.

Must have completed 18 years as on 01.01.2026. The upper age limit is not applicable to this selection.

1. Diploma in Civil Engineering of the Kerala University or Diploma recognised by Government as equivalent thereto. In addition to the above, in the case of Second Grade Overseers/Draftsman, Third Grade Overseers / Tracers , Clerks, Typist, Typist – Clerk and Confidential Assistants they should have rendered not less than 2 years service in the respective categories in the Public Works Department. Note: (1) Rules of reservation prescribed in Rule 14 to 17 of Part II of Kerala State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1958 is not applicable to selection to the Departmental Quota (2) Candidates should produce a Service Certificate (in original) obtained from the Head of Office/Department to prove the length of their service in the respective Category in the concerned Department as and when called for by the Commission. (3) KS & SSR Part II Rule 10 (a) (ii) is applicable for selection to this post. (4) In addition to the qualifications specified in this notification, the qualifications declared by the Government as equivalent to the prescribed educational qualifications through executive Orders or by Standing Orders and the qualifications determined by the Commission as equivalent to the qualifications prescribed in the Special Rules and also higher qualifications of the prescribed qualifications of the basic qualification shall be accepted. (5) Those Candidates who submit application claiming Equivalent/Higher Qualifications shall produce the relevant Government Order/Equivalency Certificate at the time of verification. (6) Probation: Every person appointed to the post shall from the date on which he/she joins duty be on probation for a total period of two years on duty within a continuous period of three years.
